Hansleep twin-size heated electric blanket

This blanket checks the boxes for me - a simple control and a fabric that can be machine washed and dried. How long it lasts has yet to be determined. Blanket fabric is 100 percent polyester and lightweight (which is fine with me). Has different, but both very soft, textures on the two faces. The one with a product label and the plug connector (both in the foot area) is the side with color and has a velvet-like nap. Instructions say this side should always be face up. The opposite side is described as a "sherpa" texture - it's a cream-white color with a synthetic sheepskin-like pile.

The heating control is a simple analog style with a single button that you press to step through the four heating levels (the highest is described as being 110 degrees F). There is an indicator light for each level. The control will automatically turn off the blanket in 10 hours (non-adjustable) if you have not already turned it off manually. If it turns off automatically a control indicator light will blink until you turn off the blanket manually or unplug it. Tag says the blanket uses 100 watts of electricity. The settings/indicator light color/wattage use (by a Kill-A-Watt meter) on my blanket are:

• Warm/Green/0-5.3
• Low/Yellow/0-5.4
• Medium/Orange/0-103
• High/Red/0-100

Note: Readings fluctuated constantly, not just when warming up.

Being a blanket, the heating wires cover only the approximate sleeping surface of the mattress. In the case of the twin size (overall size of 62" wide x 84" long), the heated area is about 36"W x 69"L - actually a couple of inches narrower and a few inches shorter than a 38" x 75" regular twin. The blanket "drop" - the unheated area that hangs over the length of the mattress sides - is about 14" on each long side. The drop at the foot is about 10 inches and there is about a five-inch area at the head that is also unheated.
